g(x) is a piecewise function. Notice that it has 4 pieces with 4 corresponding subdomains on the xaxis.
The first first subdomain is x < 1 and g(x) is defined as g(x) = x+4 in this region. Notice that the endpoint x= 1 is NOT included in this region, so we have an open circle on the graph at x= 1.
The second subdomain is x = 1 and g(x) is defined as g(x) = 1 so we simply have the point (1,1)
The third subdomain is from 1 < x ≤ 1 and g(x) is defined as g(x) = x²x in this region. Notice that x= 1 is NOT included in this region, but x = 1 IS included; so we have an open circle at x = 1, and a closed point at x = 1.
The fourth subdomain is x > 1 and g(x) is defined as g(x) = x. Notice that x = 1 is NOT included in this region so we have an open circle at x = 1.
