The last problem 31 only
Design Construction = 2
Design  Evaluation = 11
From now on , I will call the variable by their 1st letter
max value = 20 any section
Design is the highest since it has largest difference
Evaluation is the lowest
D + C + E + R = 48
D C = 2
D  E = 11
2< D R < 11
C =D 2
E = D 11
Now , substituting value for C and E into 1st equation gives
D + D 2 + D 11 + R = 48
3D 13 + R = 48
3D +R = 61
Just based on the rules given so far,
you can determine min and max values
D_max = 20
C_max = 18
E_Max = 9
E_min = 0
D_min = 11
C_min =9
3*11 + R =61
R = 61 3*D
so R<= 17
R_max <= 17 since is not one of the top two
R_max = 613*D
But R is a max when D is a minimum
3*D_min = 61 R_max
3*D_min = 61 17 = 44
3*D_min = 44
D_min = 44/3 = 14.66666667
But D is a whole number so
D = 15,16,17,18, 19, or 20
so try all 6 values for D from 20 down to 15
so if D = 20
D = 20 , C= 18 , E = 9
R = 61  3*20 = 1
Not possible since R > E
D = 19 , C = 17 , E = 8
R = 61  3*19 = 4 (still less E, so no
D = 18, C = 16 , E =7
R = 61 3*18 = 7 (so equals E , so no)
D= 17 , C = 15, E = 6
R = 61 3*17 = 10 (yes, a possible answer
so the order is correct, the smallest difference is 2,
and largest is 11 )
D> C> R > E (meets that requirement)
D = 16 , C = 14 , E = 5
R = 61 3*16 = 13 (The order is correct, but the smallest difference is 1 ,
so no
D = 15 , C =13 , E= 4
R = 61  3*15 = 16 (no R is bigger than both D and C )
so the correct set of number is :
D = 17, C=15, E = 6 and R = 10
so the answer is A) R = 10

Bruno was awarded 48 marks out of 80 for his coursework project. The maximum mark available for each of the four sections: research, design, construction and evaluation, was 20. The marks for all sections were expressed in whole numbers.
The smallest difference between the marks awarded to any two of Bruno's sections was 2. This was between design and construction, which were his two best sections. The largest difference was 11, between design and evaluation.
How many marks were Bruno's research section awarded?
research (12), design (15), construction (17), and evaluation (4).
Answer choice:
C 12
