Hi,
f(x)= 0.11x² + 0.66x + 1.99
f(x)= 0.11(x²  6x + 9) + 1.99 + .99
f(x)= 0.11(x  3)² + 2.98 <==ANSWER for vertex form
f(x)= 0.11x² + 0.66x + 1.99
Find :
a) xintercept
I assume this is asking for the x value of the axis of symmetry or the vertex.
x = b/(2a) = .66/(2*.11) = .66/.22 = 3
x = 3 <==Axis of symmetry
b)coordinates of the vertex
If x = 3, then f(x)= 0.11x² + 0.66x + 1.99 becomes
f(3)= 0.11(3)² + 0.66(3) + 1.99 =
.99 + 1.98 + 1.99 = 2.98
The vertex is (3, 2.98), which can also be seen in the vertex form of the equation. <==ANSWER
c) Does the function have a max./min. Since the value of "a" is .11, the graph opens down and has a maximum value at the vertex. <==ANSWER
d) The max. value is 2.98, the y value of the vertex. <==ANSWER
e) The range of f(x) is (∞, 2.98). <==ANSWER
