What does "spin" mean here?

"It’s impossible to know whether these new “alt.gov” accounts were actually run by rebellious government bureaucrats, or whether activists simply realized the value of reminding anyone who was listening that the government was filled with people who believe in science and accuracy over spin."

Spin is another way of saying popular but intentionally biased opinion.

    Example:

Most major news networks will put their 'spin' on a news event to forward their own agenda. If you think back to the US election, every news event was told one way by CNN and another way by FOX. CNN was biased toward the Democrats, so they would report things in a way that was favorable to the Democratic party, and FOX was biased toward the Republican party, so they would report in a way that favored the Republican party.

In politics, spin means how you view the world and how you describe it. For example, take the $15 minimum wage. Democrats say it will give people more money. Republicans say some people will lose their job or work fewer hours. Both are true. Each of those opinions is their spin. A simple example everyone knows is the glass half full or half empty.
