When plotting the reciprocal of the concentration vs time in seconds of a reaction

A --> B, a linear relationship is seen. The slope of this line is +3.4, and the y-intercept is 0.132.

What is the half life for this reaction in seconds?

    Because the plot of 1/[A] vs time is linear, the reaction is 2nd order. The slope of the line is equal to the rate constant, k. The y-intercept is equal to 1/[A]o, the initial concentration of the reactant. From this plot, [A]o = 7.58 M. 

    For a second order reaction,t1/2 = 1/k[A]t1/2 = 1/3.4(7.58) = 0.039 s
