Why did Meghan wear black so often when she was still part of the RF?

I thought that was a big no-no.

Update:

@Anonymous2: Diana was told -- after the disaster in your pic -- that royal women only wear black when in mourning. She never repeated her mistake. The "Travolta dress" was dark blue.

That supposed "no-black-except-at-funerals-and-in-mourning" rule went by the wayside years ago. It's too fashionable and chic to be excluded from anyone's wardrobe. It was a ridiculous rule, assuming it actually existed. Tabloid-style writers claimed it did and that Diana had gotten into trouble for violating it, but everything they write needs to be taken with several pounds of salt. Quite often, they just make it up as they go along.

The dress Diana wore when she danced with Travolta was indeed a deep blue, but Diana did wear black evening dresses or outfit on several other occasions and not late in her marriage either.

She just preferred the neutral color. Royals usually wear the color black for only mourning, but times are changing.

What are you on about?! Princess Diana wore black all the time (see below). Another example is her famous Travolta dress, the one she danced with John Travolta in at a gala. Another example is her famous little black dress that she wore the first time she appeared in public after it was announced that she and Charles would be separating, not yet divorced, still a member of the Royal Family, and to an engagement that was part of her duties as a member of the Royal Family. I could go on and on, but I have neither the time nor the willingness to list all the hundreds of times Princess Diana wore black, so how about you just do a Google image search of "Princess Diana and black dress" and see all those hundreds of times for yourself?
