Many White people in North America have mixed ancestry, often including Native American ancestry.  The Canadians include British people, Gaels and French whereas White people in the US tend to be British, Spanish, French and German.  There are also Scandinavians in both countries.  The main difference is therefore that there are more people of Spanish ancestry in the US and more Gaels in Canada.

Native Americans, also known as American Indians, First Americans, Indigenous Americans and other terms, are the indigenous peoples of the United states of America

The white population in the US is more pan-European than Canada.

The US is made up of the 13 original British colonies + territories that were bought/won over time from other countries like Russia, France and Mexico.

In addition, the US had mass immigration from all over Europe from the 19th century upto the 1924 Immigration Act. Millions of British, Irish, Germans, Nordics, Polish, Italians, as well as smaller levels of Croatians, Portuguese, Spaniards etc immigrated to America.

Since the end of the Cold War, there's been a lot more Russian and Eastern European immigration to the US, and there still is from non-EU countries like Ukraine.

Canada is pan-European too, but not to the same level as the US. White people in Canada are predominantly of Anglo-Celtic and French stock.

Not really.  Americans tend to have German ancestors (although there are loads of others), while most (1/3) of Canadians have British ancestors, and about 1/4 have French ones.

Most American whites are of German ancestry. Most Canadian whites are from France & England/Scotland/Ireland.

Yes, almost. A lot from England originally, but a large population from France in Canada (Quebec). There are also other European nationalities, including Dutch and German. The US attracted a lot of Irish immigrants too.

    So both countries are similar.
