Would George W. Bush have gone down as an excellent president if it wasn’t for the recession that happened at the end of his term?

You already forgot about that costly and pointless invasion of Iraq, under false pretense, to satisfy evil incarnate Dick Cheney?

    Seriously?

Bush invaded Iraq, spending 5000 American lives plus over $1 trillion, and found no WMDs, no clear and present danger.  And it gets worse.  Iran & Iraq were keeping each other in check.  Taking Iraq out freed Iran to create international terror which they are still doing.  Bush's Iraq blunder was the biggest blunder in a century.  Until Trump.

Ignoring events leading to 9/11 and then mishandling it is one of his many faux pas.

Do you not know he invaded Iraq in order to try (in vain) to finish daddy's business?

How about the mess in Afghanistan? Recession just put one more nail in that coffin.

I think so, he acted in moderation most of the times.

The recession was bad, but the war ruined his chances of being 'excellent'

SO, what you're asking is, "Besides that whole 'destroyed the economy' thing....."?

You seem to be forgetting the disastrous invasion of Iraq.
