Who was the main villain of World War I?

For the Revolutionary War, it'd be King George III.

Civil War, it could be Jefferson Davis, but then again, the CSA wasn't really much of a country yet, the "antagonist" of the war could be seen as one with the military leadership; Robert E. Lee.

If you ask someone who was the main villain of World War II, there's only one clear name that everyone knows . . .

War on Terror, Osama Bin Laden. Iraq War, Saddam Hussein. But who was the main individual villain of World War I.

Update:

Three people said Kaiser Wilhelm II :D

But I'll give best answer to you, since you really explained things :D

    There's the thing---there really wasn't any .

The whole thing was started over some minor royal being assassinated.....but in those days,  most countries had treaties, that stipulated,  if we are attacked then you fight with us , on our side.    and those countries had treaties with other countries, that said if WE go to war, you have to back us up.......and so forth.  So what happened was........countries got more or less forced into honoring their treaties and taking sides..... even they had no real beef with the countries they were fighting.

There were tales of both sides just throwing down their weapons,   because they couldn't figure out just WHY they were fighting each other.

But once all the shooting started.......it was a chance to settle various border disputes, and maybe make a land grab or two and redefine some borders.

But at the end of the day, the whole damn thing, was really over very little.

A teenage Serbian militant who assassinated Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28, 1914. Princip was armed and trained by a Serbian terrorist group known as the Black Hand. His assassination of Ferdinand is widely considered to be the opening shot of World War I.

The guy that shot the archduke Ferdinand in Sarajevo is who started WW1. You assume the south was the "villain" in the civil war, but do you never wonder where it said in the constitution that any state that freely joined the union was not free to leave the union? Perhaps the invasion of the south by federal troops was the actual villain.

Read the book, "The Guns of August" and you will see that it was several countries that each had a desire for more land and power, not any one individual.

    Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Had he not backed Austria-Hungary's war against Serbia, the First World War would not have happened.
