Was Lady Nairn the real author behind Robert Burns work?

It used to be illegal for females to write poetry.

However it is well established that Lady Nairn had a secret, and that is that she used to publish poetry in a mans name.

In fact, she kept the secret so well hidden it is believed that even her husband did not know about her poetry.

However Lady Nairn was also friends with Robert Burns.

There is a rumour that Robert Burns poetry was actually the work of Lady Nairn.

Is there anything to substantiate this claim?

Where in the red flaming bloody fcuking hell did you get the idea that it was illegal for women to write poetry in Scotland in the 18th-19th centuries? Lots of women wrote poetry then and published it under their own names.

No, it was never illegal for women to write poetry.

Lady Nairn and Robert Burns never met.

She published most of her work under the gender neutral initials BB. Since her work was being published under her pseudonym, why would she also give her work to Burns?
