He was 'Labour' , and 'wrecked' parliament in the name of democracy. He tried to make the Lords into a Senate, which would be elected by the populace. In doing so If it had a Labour majority , then as Prime Minister he would have been able to control the upper house as well as the commons(lower house) , and that is bad for democracy.
His wife, Cherie, is a barrister by profession, so he had the human rights act passed , so that she would be able to make money on human rights court cases.
The House of Lords was also the highest court of law in the land, and in making the changes he created the Supreme Court, thereby removing the Lords from legal decisions.
It was nothing to do with democracy , but Prime Ministerial Control. Everyone in the UK has one vote. The difference being that their lordships vote directly on given bills, whereas the commoners vote indirectly ,through their MP, on given bills.
When he realised that the elected population was going against him , he got out (resigned without a vote from the population or censure by parliament), and left Gordon Brown to pick up the bits.

I believe that Tony B Liar will be uncovered as the most corrupt prime minister we have had. He took us into a war with Iraq just to look big to his friends Clinton and Bush, let IRA murderers walk free and his henceman Gordon Brown sold all
of our gold at the lowest possible price and decimated everyone’s pension fund.
The fact that Blair was Bessie mates with Bush and Clinton , shows how two faced he really was.

In as far as he had any principles, he was liberal on immigration and sexuality issues, centrist on economic issues, and made some halfhearted token attempts to be conservative on law and order and on welfare reform. What he ultimately delivered was in my view the worst of all possible worlds. He was a good motivator and organiser, but still a snake-oil salesman.
But I saw no evidence that he was corrupt, in the sense that he used his power and influence to derive personal benefits from his time in office.

Tony Blair was in the Labour party, which is socialist, or at least has left leanings. Socialism is not a bad word outside of the USA though. While politicians make more money than the average person, people that are similarly talented make a lot more in the private sector, so they are generally not in politics for the money.
Whether he was good, or bad is a matter of opinion!

He was not in office for the money. Prime ministers do not earn that much money (I think 100,000 per year). You earn more when working for big transcorporations/ multicorporations. He was in office for the power, wanted to change the country in his way and because he was a control freak.
And to answer your question: he was always talking about his Third way politics between pro-welfare state and pro-free market polices, so basically a middle road approach between conservatism, liberalism and socialism, He failed to some extent due to the high costs of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars and due to the economic recession in 2007-8.
