Why isn’t everyone in Australia proper cashed up?
Australia has enormous amounts of natural resources and a very small population, everyone should be rolling in it. Qatar is resource rich but nowhere near as flush as Oz. Australia has about 19,000% greater values of natural resources but just 10 times the population. Despite that, the average yearly earnings in Qatar are A$87,670 and only A$66,560 in Australia. What’s going wrong?

Because the money is in the hands of those who have money or power.
The "average" Aussie doesn't own the resources nor the resources to extract them even if they did. That's owned a handful of billionaires and large corporations. They don't want to share.

The average Australian over 40 is worth at least half a million when you add up the value of assets and investments and superannuation. Then there is inheritance on top of all that. A million bucks doesnt buy much nowadays,if you retire with less than a million its not going to be much fun.
