What's the process for getting the father's name on the birth certificate?

Does it cost anything? Do I have to go to the court office and get it? What do I need to do?

The father agrees to the change, and the process after that depends on the State.  A father CANNOT force his name onto the birth certificate without DNA.

When you fill out the birth certificate AT BIRTH, you include the father's name.

After that, YOU DON'T. Legally establishing the father's identity doesn't change the birth certificate.

    You have to say where.

  • Be present at birth, the nurse will bring you the proper documents to sign.

After then it probably would have to be done in a courtroom setting.
