Jerry and Mick share money in ratio 2:3

That means Jerry gets 2 parts while Mick gets 3 parts

Given that Mick gets £900

If 3 parts of Mick are equivalent to £900

then 1 part will be = (1 part / 3 parts) * £900 = £300.

So Jerry gets = 2 parts * ( £300 / 1 part) = £600

Add the ratios 2 + 3 = 5

Then divide £900 by '5' which = £180.

£180. is the value of one ratio.

Hence 2 ratios ; 2 x 180 = £360.

And 3 ratios ; 3 x 180 = £540

Hence

J:M::2:3::£360:£540

NB Verification; you have the sum correct if the ratio values sum to the original total. In this case £360 + £540 = £900 ; TRUE>!!!!!

900 lb is 3/5 of the whole value of the money,

then the total sum of the money=900(5/3)=

1500 lb. Jerry gets 1500 lb-900 lb=600 lb.

Jerry and Mick share money in the Ratio of 2:3 → j/m = 2/3

Mick gets £900 → m = 900

You start from the first equation:

j/m = 2/3

j = m * (2/3) → recall: m = 900

j = 900 * (2/3)

j = 600 → Mick gets £300 more than Jerry →Jerry gets £300 less than Jerry

Assuming Mick is the 3, Jerry gets £600. That is unless Mick is getting the whole amount and is supposed to figure out how much of it to give to Jerry, in which case he gives Jerry £540. It's hard to say because your question is unclear, the phrase "shares money in a ratio of" being nonsensical.
