Suppose a piece of dust finds itself on a CD. If the spin rate of the CD is 470 rpm, and the piece of dust is 4.5 cm from the center, ?
what is the total distance (in m) traveled by the dust in 8 minutes? (Ignore accelerations due to getting the CD rotating.)

angular speed ω = 2PI/60*n = 0.10472*470 = 49.22 rad/sec
tangential speed Vt = ω*r = 49.22*0.045 = 2.21 m/sec
distance d = Vt*t = 2.21*8*60 = 1063 m (1100 with just 2 sign. digits)

travel distance = rpm * (time in min) * circumference that dust makes)
= (470 rpm)* (8 min) * (2𝜋r)
= (470 rpm)* (8 min) * (2𝜋*0.045 m)
= 1063 m
