It's it is simply cheaper to pay a persons wages than buy any kind of practical robot, for anything but some specialised tasks.

how do you know you're not? if a humanoid robot looks like us you would not be able to tell it apart from people. someone answering this question could be a humanoid robot.
apart from needing to plug yourselves in you wouldn't be able to tell.
i hear that some robots can eat food like people so the lines are getting blurry.

Well, 1) making humanoid robots is harder than you think. The basic skin is easy enough, but getting all the moving limbs and joints properly coordinated the same way a human skeletal system would is extremely complex. And 2) it doesnt make much sense to make a robot humanoid unless its primary function is to be a human. Its much more efficient to design a robot around performing its primary function as efficiently as possible, and we're surrounded by those. Things like factory robots that are designed to perform a repetative task at high speed are little more than, say, an arm with a building tool at the end. They dont NEED a head and a torso and legs to do what they do, that stuff would just be hanging off the back while the arm did all the work. So we just build the arm and leave it at that.
