Tips for care worker?

I’ve recently just started a job as a care assistant, I would go out to peoples homes and just sit and chat with them and keep them company. I have extremely bad anxiety and this has really started to affect my work, every morning I worry to the point of vomiting. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips, I find it really hard to keep the conversation going as we would be sitting for a few hours with each other. I do enjoy the job although I do worry what the family etc think of me every time I’m out it’s horrible worrying 24/7 :(

Can you do light housekeeping? My moms care giver makes her bed, picks up, does laundry. Takes her outside in nice weather to sit. I agree, encourage some activities. Are they supposed to do some exercise? Walk? Pick a topic to Talk about each visit from their past. Also maybe prepare some food together

Find something to do instead of just sitting with them.  Are they able to do jigsaw puzzles, knit, or crochet?  Even if you can't do those things, perhaps they can teach you.  Ask them about what they did when they were your age, etc. They have lots of stories.

No one wants to sit around and talk for hours.  You need to bring things to do with the people you interact with.

    - deck of cards, quick board games, crossword puzzles, read books.

    - depending on their level of physical abilities, bake together, do chair aerobics, etc.

The people you care for are not interested in you. People want to talk about themselves, their past lives, their family, what was on tv etc.  So ask them questions, you will have difficulty stopping them.
