 Is the name of today’s Chicago Midway Airport associated with the Midway Plaisance?

    No.  The airport is named for the Battle of Midway, which was fought in 1942, and is named for an atoll in the Pacific Ocean.

    Midway Plaisance was built in 1871.

    As someone also said, it is named after the WW2 Battle of Midway.  Prior to then, it was known as the Chicago Municipal Airport.

    No, although that's an interesting coincidence. Chicago Municipal Airport was renamed Midway in 1949, in honor of the hard fought Battle of Midway in the Pacific during World War II.
