Which is the best mode of transportation for perishable goods?
- megalomaniacLv 71 month ago
Different goods "perish" at different rates so the transportation should be as fast as the rate of perishability while still being efficient. Basically if you want to make a profit then you need the slowest (i.e. cheapest) form of transportation that will still get your goods to market without spoilage. If you don't care about profit then you just use the fastest available. However most people care about profits so you have to choose carefully. Sometimes a bit of spoilage is worth it if the transportation is cheap and most of your goods survive. It's highly variable. It depends on the product, the distance, and the market.

Lots of fresh flowers, produce, and even human organs for transplant are shipped around the world by air freight.
Now the challenge they are handling is billions of doses of vaccines.
