Ebay no longer let's you sell things without a bank account? Is that part of the cashless society thing?

You can accept paypal, but most now register a bank account or you will be blocked from selling. Why did they do this stupid crap?

Some people use paypal only and dont deal with banks.

Update:

Amazon for example always required a bank account.

Ebay never did all these years until now?

Why?

To join the cashless society agenda?

It might be a fraud prevention measure.

No.   It's about being able to track you down and verify your identity if you turn out to be a fraudster.

Most people DO deal with banks, and the ones who don't are often doing something illegal or are someone the banks won't touch with a ten foot pole.

Paying with actual cash currency has never been a *thing* when it comes to online shopping.

If you want cash, have a garage sale or get a booth at a local flea market.

Social Security won't mail your checks anymore.  They ONLY do direct deposit.  So if you don't have a bank account, you need to open one to get Social Security.

I think it has to do with investigations of fraud.  Banks are required to keep records that show where money came from and where it went.  If someone is suspected of fraud or theft, bank records provide good evidence.

In 2010 things tightened up-. You can't join a health club with cash in the US or Europe. Local people get overcharged by Waikiki hotels right from their bank account. Traveling gets you targeted for false welfare fraud.
