Why must teachers see your face during zoom?

Some people are insecure as --- and teachers do not care about the insecurity of the students. Some people do not want to show their ugliness on a camera and teachers force them out of their comfort zone

.

Regardless if you say this question is pathetic, don't comment.

Is it not to make sure that the person in front of the camera is the person who is supposed to be there?

To make sure that the student is actually there and participating in the class. I have seen many examples of students actually sleeping, gaming, talking on the phone, or doing virtually anything else rather than getting their learn on.

Really?? I mean.........really???? If you go to school do you sit back to the teacher, looking at the opposite wall? Do you sit facing the teacher but with a bag over your head? Grow up. It is school, not a beauty contest.

Being insecure doesn't excuse a student from having to take part in the lesson or make him or her exempt from the rules that the rest of the students in the class have to follow. Teachers need to know that each and every student in the class is present and paying attention and contributing to the classroom dynamic. If you refuse to abide by the rules you can refuse to attend class and suffer the consequences. What many young people fail to realise is that one day, if they manage to graduate, they'll likely go out and get a job where people will not care about their silly insecurities. When your boss tells you to do something, you can either do it or you can find another job. Get over yourself. Your teacher doesn't get paid to pamper you. Ugly people have the same obligations as attractive people, so it's best that you accept that now and move on. You are required to show yourself on camera if you want to be marked present and pass the class. So stop whinging about it and do it.

There's been a lot of discussion of this among teachers. Some schools do not require students to keep their cameras on. But then teachers report that when they call on the students, they are clearly not there.

BTW, it's not necessarily a bad thing to be pushed out of your comfort zone. Most people who have accomplished things have gone outside their comfort zone.

What's the difference between having to be seen on Zoom versus in a classroom? The reason is that if the teacher doesn't see your face, just like if they don't see your face in the classroom, they don't know you are actually there. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to simply enter a Zoom meeting and then walk away or just sit there on your phone or doing whatever else. Let's be honest with each other, it's not about insecurity, it's about wanting to do other things than just sit and act like you are paying attention...

It's to make sure that you're the one getting educated and not someone else. Also because they want to make sure that you're actually paying attention not just hopping onto the zoom and sleep.

I can relate, but there are things in life we can't avoid and can't get out of.
