Does volunteering as EMT or ER tech count as Direct patient care. ?

I am asking because I want to apply to PA schools and most of them are recommending at least 2,000 hours of direct patient care.

It does as long as you have direct contact with patients. If as a volunteer you don't perform patient care (e.g., take vitals, etc.) then it doesn't count.
