Why does the US want Russia to release the protesters?

Why does the US want Russia to release the protesters they arrested Yet we wont release the protesters we arrested for storming the Capital? Sounds like a double standard.

The US does not want others to mess with our politics  but we are happy to mess with other countries politics.  But what you raise has no bearing on that as far as I can see.

American administration suffers from the delusion they have the right to dictate to a sovereign country like Russia.

A case of mass hypocrisy! Wall street protests 2011, Ferguson MO, were greeted with glee?

    Edward Snowdon?

    Julian Assange?

As for insurrection those occurred in 1973 Chile, Serbia 2000, Ukraine 2014, bloody overthrow of the reining government! CIvilians massacred, survivors fled abroad.

Those who launched the insurrection were lethal, armed to the teeth, they thrilled in the bloodbath they unleashed!

The people who stormed the Capitol stopped being protesters the moment they broke into the building. The people who stayed outside at a safe distance were protesting. The ones who stormed the Capitol were terrorists. Every single one of them was trespassing at the very least, and they were part of a violent mob that was hunting members of congress. 5 people were killed, including a cop. That is not protesting. That was a coup attempt. Every single person who entered the building is guilty of a crime.

In Russia, people get arrested for peaceful protests. They do not have free speech there, and speaking out against Putin will land people in prison.

the protesters are protesting the arrest of Navalny who had the audacity to run against Putin. Putin poisoned the man and almost killed him with nerve gas. Of course the KGB and Putin deny they had anything to do with it. that's why the US and most of Europe is up in arms and protesting.
