Its dangerous when certain 'elders' are negative people that can project the wrong ideas and emotions onto the children. If you are basing this off of the assumption that every elder out there is purely good, then yes.

No and no. Children can be a great gift but it depends on the parents. As for the second part, strictness is fair but respect should be earned, no freely given, especially as a child. Adults should and are held to a different standard.
