It's actually against the rules on some teams for the cheerleaders to date the players.  Most football players with cheerleader wives met them in college or high school.

Probably rarer that they date players. I knew a guy who dated an NFL cheerleader. I didn't even think she was much of a catch, personally. Kind of hot...from the stands, if you know what I mean. Not nearly hot enough to justify how annoying and high maintenance she was.
