Whoever wants to wear a dress wears a dress. Very straightforward. Nobody has to wear one, either.

There is no convention for such a wedding. Even for heterosexual weddings people are leaving old traditions behind more and more. A couple years back a friend of mine got married in a traditional Chinese style wedding. She married a guy who was half Chinese. It was very colorful and nothing like any western weddings.
