It doesn't mean he's bigger than the club if he does leave. If a player wants to go it's 1 of 3 reasons

1. Another club will pay him more

2. He/his family are unsettled in the country/town they now live and want to move back home/to a country/town where they were settled

3. He has an offer from a club that can win things and wants to go for that

4. He's had a major falling out with staff/players at current club and is unhappy because of this

None of them indicate the player is bigger than the club. It just indicates another opportunity. My money is another club has told Pogba they will pay him more than Man United think he is worth paying.
