Will movie apps eventually destroy movie theaters ?

It’s sad but it seems that way especially since the rise of covid. More and more people are going to prefer paying monthly subscriptions instead of going to the movies with their families.

I don't think movie theaters will be destroyed entirely (at least not in the near future), but I do believe that they will have a greatly reduced roll.

Now that streamers like Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max are regularly producing movies with A-list casts and $100+  budgets, the demand for movie theaters will be reduced.

It will be interesting to see if movies come back.  Theater chains are holding back some big releases for when they can open theaters in hopes of bring back the crowds.  Before the Chinese weaponized plague they were experimenting with luxury seats, wine and other things to keep the dwindling attendance.  They will use some other innovations to reopen after the plague.  But...it may not be enough.  People are used to watching at home and there are many who will never be comfortable in crowds again.  It will be interesting to see if they can make a comeback.
