 Soldier executed by sharp blade slide?

1950's or so sword and sandal movie were a captured solidier is executed. Its a background scene, commander is pleading with captor to not kill his men, they pause to watch one of his young men slide down a sharp blade for his execution.  the blade is bewteen his legs, he in wearing a small tunic, need the title of movie..Not Long Ship

I know the movie you are referring to but I can't immediately recall the title.  Richard Widmark played the Viking and I think Sidney Poitier played the Moor.  They were looking for a golden bell.  Look up Richard Widmark films and you may recognise the title when you see it.  I believe the film is "The Long Ships".
