Because the elected officials keep trying to buy votes by spending your money on the squeaky wheel. Trump tried to deal with UN to pay their share it costs a lot to police the world. Endless wars, either go in to win or stay home. Preferably stay home and let other countries deal with their own defences and problem.

Because taxes are too low and because we spend about as much on our military as the entire rest of the world, combined, spends on theirs.

They don't have to play by the same rules we all do. In other words, we (or at least many of us) can't or just don't spend money we don't have but the Federal Gov just prints up more paper currency, which of course, actually costs more to make than the face value (for some of it), which causes a lot of inflation making it difficult to save when you know that loaf of bread is going to cost a lot more tomorrow than you will earn on that dollar you were paid today!
