Why do people even use fractions???

No they aren't.  You divide things up and have to know what the amount is; but when you cannot represent them with a decimal point, you need to use them.

For instance 1/3 = 0.333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

We have to work with math in life all of time; but don't be afraid to understand it, it is not as difficult as you think.
