As the sun warms different parts of the planet while it spins, the warm air expands and causes high and low pressures in the atmosphere. The spinning of the planet causes air movement to then rotate while trying to fill the low pressure areas. That is what makes the wind exist. It's called the Coriolis effect.

Hot air rises, cooler air moves in to fill the partial vacuum. That is why there is a low pressure area over Washington, DC so often. ;-)

Wind is air in motion. It is produced by the uneven heating of the earth's surface by the sun. Since the earth's surface is made of various land and water formations, it absorbs the sun's radiation unevenly.

Differences in air temperatures cause the wind.
