Why did the Electoral College not vote according to the legislators district that they represent?

That is what the purpose is.

Update:

They do represent every legislators district, that is where the points system comes from.

Update 2:

Its no wonder why this country is so divided.

Update 3:

Joey, didn't even win 20%, of the districts across the nation.

The election proceeded in accordance w/ the exact same process as what elected trump in 2016. The grapes are sour when you swing f/ the (now known) rotten vine. Watching you squirm is part of the celebration ... please continue ... lol.

That's not the purpose of the electoral college.  The electors do not directly represent congressional districts.  Instead, each state is allotted a number of electors equal to its Senators plus Congressmen.  The Constitution allows states to choose how to award their electors.  Currently, 48 states and the District of Columbia, follow a winner take all system where the candidate who gets the plurality of votes in their state wins all of the electors, regardless of how much they won by.  Maine and Nebraska each award two votes to the overall winner and then award the rest of their votes based on the winner in Congressional districts.

The Constitution specifies how to determine the number of electoral votes each state is entitled to, but it doesn't specify how the states decide how to divvy them up (beyond saying that it's completely up to the state legislatures).  Allocating one electoral vote to each Congressional district might seem logical at first glance, but it still leaves unresolved the question of how to allocate the two extra electoral votes that each state receives.  The other problem is that most states still prefer a winner-take-all allocation of their electoral votes.

They did and it took great courage the Russian operatives and Trump and his mob was threatening them.  So I have to admire their courage.  Saved us from being taken over by Russia.  No one wanted Trump for another 4 years or this country would be ruled by Putin after being destroyed bya civil war.

It worked fine -= and there is NO WAY I know of to change it, that would have resulted in a legit win for Trump! - Some still like him - but the sane ones do not - that is why Biden won - 100% legit!

    Biden - 306 :)

    Trump - 232 [Too many] :(

    America IS great again!

UPDATE 1: Joe for SURE won the popular vote - so unlike Trump, it Truly was representative of what the majority of the people wanted!

states set up how they want the electors, and many states have winner takes all

The is not what the purpose is, and it also doesn't make any sense, because they don't represent any "legislators district"; they represent states.
