Because if they made them long sentences then he would loose the plot half way through them.

They've been run through Grammarly to make them more puncchy. Notice that he doesn't struggle with multisyllabic words like "coronavirus" like his predecessor.

He has the ability to write long sentences, but he can't always read them out loud without stuttering. His difficulty is in speaking, not writing.
