Can mentally ill people think logically? Can psychopaths and sociopaths think logically?

Anything that eats thinks logically. If hungry then look for food.

Psychopaths are overly aggressive. If they want you to be quiet, they'll hit you until you're quiet.

Sociopaths are extremely antisocial. If they want you to be quite, they'll say so mean things to you that you never want to speak again.

Sometimes they have lucid moments.  Some can live on their own & take care of themselves while others are incapable of doing so.

The term 'mental illness' covers a huge range of psychological disorders!

The two you've specified also have a very wide range.  Many psychopaths are perfectly logical, normal, functioning people.  The same goes for many sociopaths.
