The question has no meaning in the convention sense of the word "time" because time as we know it t started in the Big Bang. There is no "before the Big Bang" because time wasn't running.

Before the big bang , then there is no time dimension , so nothing happen before time. So how can we count when there is no time dimension to count on.

Probably the collapsing of the universe before this one happened.
Think like a billion years as just a blink of an eye.
Pure energy in the form of a black hole (the singularity)
Bang and you get universe. expands to its limits then begins a collapse making black holes. They draw all matter into them and gather as a singularity. Yea, all the mass of a universe in one place.
This critical mass, one electron hiccups and a bang you cant fathom.
And the cycle goes on and on like a heartbeat.
Many hundreds of billion years, our universe we know could well be a different universe.

There was no before. Time began at the Big Bang. That is hard to imagine. Think of it like this. You can always walk north. But when you get to the north pole, you can't go further north. It's not because there is a fence stopping you. At the north pole, there is no north direction. Every direction is south. At the Big Bang, every time direction is to the future. There is no past.

We don't know.
But there are speculative hypotheses that the Big Bang occurred in the context of "ongoing eternal inflation" in a background inflating manifold. If true, that could mean there are lot (infinite?) big bangs both in the past and into the future and across "space" in that external manifold.

>> ... years before the big bang
A string of words that have no real meaning.
What's north of the North Pole? What whole number is between 0 and 1? Where were you before you were conceived?
Quote : "Imagine the sound that the beard of a sheet of whipped cream tinkers three degrees inside Christmas. You can’t? That’s because I used an expression that, though grammatically correct, has absolutely no meaning. The verbs, the nouns, the adjectives, etc., are all in the right place, but the expression still makes no sense. Well… “before the Big Bang” is just like that. A nonsensical expression."

Nothing. The big bang was first. And logic says there is nothing before first.
Peace.
