What happens when egg shell is added to nitric acid?answer?

    Dissolution. and Effervescence !!!! 

    Remember an egg shell is largely Calcium Carbonate. 

    All carbonates dissolve in acids to form the salt, water and carbon dioxide. 

    CaCO3 + 2HNO3 = Ca(NO3)2 + H2O + CO2
