One athlete has a running speed of 6 miles per hour,

How long, in miles, is each segment of the race?
It could be 3 miles of running and 10 miles of biking.

It could be 9 miles of running. 9 miles / 6 mph = 1.5 hours.
It could be 15 miles of biking. 15 miles / 10 mph = 1.5 hours.
Or any combination, in the right proportions.
