physics help!?
A(n) 892 N man stands in the middle of a
frozen pond of radius 14.9 m. He is unable to
get to the other side because of a lack of friction between his shoes and the ice. To overcome this difficulty, he throws his 1 kg physics
textbook horizontally toward the north shore,
at a speed of 7.2 m/s.
The acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s
2
.
How long does it take him to reach the
south shore?
Answer in units of s.

recoil speed Vr = m*V/(W/g) = m*V*g/W = 1*7.2*9.81/892 = 7.92*10^-2 m/sec
time t = r/Vr = 14.9*10^2/7.92 = 188 sec (190 with just 2 sign. digits)

his mass M = 892N / 9.81m/s² = 90.9 kg
t = r / v = 14.9m / (7.2m/s * 1kg/90.9kg) = 188 seconds
