its just a book published by Scholastic books probably.

People say god talks to them due to drugs, mental illnesses, or they are lying.

Try to make it a habit to pray before reading your Bible. Humbly and sincerely ask God for wisdom and understanding to take to heart what you are reading.

Try to stay focus, meditation is needed. Also, research the things you don’t understand.

It takes time and effort, but you will get out of your Bible reading what you put into it.

God will bless your efforts. The Bible at James 4:8 says: Draw close to God, he will draw close to you.

When you start to apply the things you learn from the Bible to your life you will feel God’s love. You will be guided by his righteousness standards. You benefit from his Godly principles.

Have you ever humbly confessed all known sin to Him and  asked Him to forgive you?  Have you asked Jesus Christ into your life as Lord and Savior with the intent to follow Him as best you can?  Do you realize that Jesus died for your sins and rose again the third day so that you could avoid hell and have a home in heaven?  Please look up these Bible verses:  Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:13, 10:9&10; Ephesians 2:8,9;  John 3:16, 14:6, 1:12, 3:3.

P.S.  Pray and read God's Word  daily.  Pray for understanding of what you read and guidance about how to apply it.  I suggest that you stay in the New Testament for a while until you are grounded in the faith.

The fact of the matter: The reason you read God holy word the bible is that maybe God will save you through his holy word the bible, as it is written, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God, and the word of God is God holy word the bible. So you have to have the faith in your heart that God will be faithful in his word to save you if you are obedient to God's holy word the bible only.

Bible reading "alone" is highly overrated. A good Bible commentary can fix that.
