it will be with us for a long time, years, maybe decades into the future, but as long as everybody gets the vaccine when it is available to them it should be controlled enough by summer to get back to some semblance of a normal life in the USA

As it stands now, according to Biden's COVID-19 task force, the 198-page National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness guide he and his task force published just two days ago, and Dr. Fauci, head of said task force, we are looking at early fall, probably September, before vaccinations reach the point of providing herd immunity in the US. That's the point at which it will be "over," so to speak. That doesn't mean boosters won't still be required, but social distancing, mask-wearing, continuous sanitizing, lockdowns, etc. will once again no longer be included in America's "normal."
