While the insurrection was going on, trump sat in front of the tv, enjoying the show. Pence, Pelosi and other leaders tried to reach him on the phone but he wouldn't answer. Instead of trying to calm them, he did nothing. Trump cares about himself. Period.

He stayed out of Washington and away from the proceeding so that no one could mistaken his presence there for a call for more violence.
He issued a statement and a public video calling for a peaceful transition and no violence or protest.
And you will notice that he was successful and getting a peaceful transfer of power on the 20th.

His voters are just dumb. That's it.

Trump was unwilling to brief Biden on anything like a sore loser. Not even Barack Obama was that lame or cowardly.
