Does my husband's income affect my student loan payments?
My husband and I got married in October of 2020. The 2020 taxes would be our first year filing jointly. I owe roughly $55k in student loans and I'm worried that if we file jointly, my monthly payments will sky rocket. He makes roughly $60k while i only make $35K a year.
With the Pay As You Earn federal government repayment plan, would i likely end up paying more in monthly payments if we final jointly.
Which plan do you think is the best for our situation. We have no children to help out household count. Should we file jointly or separate?
Thanks for you input
