    No, we were not.

If we murdered the Savior of the world, raped the economies of numerous countries, sending their people into poverty all for our own financial gain, and plotted to control all the peoples of the world, that would be evil.

The "innocent people" in the camps did all of those things, and then some more.

The Nazis were evil and those other Non-Nazi Germans (who did not have the mindset of the Nazis) were following orders, e.g. for their own survival. Soldiers who did not follow orders were either shot or sent to Concentration Camps. That was their "choice".

Louise is wrong. The fact is that the majority of Germans did NOT support Hitler and the Nazis.  During the last free, independent elections in November 1932

33 % of German voters voted for Hitler and most as protest voters because the democratic parties were unable to deal with the Great Depression. Furthermore, the Allies (especially US and UK) estimated that between 20-25% of Germans were against anti-semitic and there were only 10-15 % of Germans were hardcore Nazis (which also correlates with the percentage of Germans in the Nazis party), which is a minority. Louise's view is just based on Anti-German racism and sentiment.

Anonymous,  the VW Beetle was an elaborate con on the German people. You had to pay in advance saving over several years but no one actually got a car. They were only produced in small quantity and reserved for Nazi party officials.

VW exists today due to the British army. The Russians wanted to strip factories if any thing useful and then demolish everything left.

The British stopped them and got the VW factory up and running.

Autobahns? Why were they built? There were no cars. For military use of course.

You’re entitled to be a Nazi fan boy because many people died for your freedom, but get the facts correct.

The Nazis were evil, but the general German populace not necessarily. The Nazis sold their public on the idea that Nazism had all the answers and could make their lives better, and invented scape goats to blame for all their national woes.

Some bought into it entirely. Some questioned privately but wouldn’t dare do that in public.

That said, “I was just following orders” is the biggest cop-out. It’s the signature reply of complicity.

Contrary to popular belief the Nazi weren't inherently evil, but I accept  they did some evil things and so did every country in WW2.

Actually, the Nazis did some very good things like banning vivisection of animals, setting up an environmental conservation scheme and were the first to link smoking with cancer.

They also put cafés in every factory for the workers and introduced the forty hour week with paid holidays, built the autobahn, and put a scheme in place so that every citizen could own a car. If it wasn't for the Nazis VW would not exist today!

Yes, millions died in concentration camps, but this was predominantly from overwork, disease and malnutrition and we only have the word of survivors that gas chambers existed with no hard evidence to back it up. Scientific evidence does not support the claims.

You must remember that the winners wrote the history books and now keep very quiet as to the atrocities carried out by the allies, particularly the Russians in 1945 when they entered Berlin.

They raped and tortured thousands of innocent women and children, and killed babies by bashing their heads against walls so were every bit as evil.
