Absolutely. To say I disagree with her opinions on homosexuality is putting it very mildly: I think she has said some really horrendous things about gay people. But that has nothing to do with her achievements as a sportswoman. She isn't being given an award for her political opinions, she's being given an award for her incredible achievements in her tennis career, which make her one of the greatest sportswomen in Australian history. As long as she hasn't committed a crime (which she hasn't), her sports career is worthy of our respect, and we should be intelligent enough to separate her professional achievements from her political opinions, however distasteful we may find them.
