I've been told that so-and-so likes me [altho I don't like the person being talked about]

 I suppose it happens.  There were guys in the Navy, who wanted to hang out with me, and I couldn't stand them.   Same way nerds in high school would try to latch onto you ,  to improve their own status. 

You can't scrape these people off sometimes.
