You can, but it'll all catch up with you eventually and the other person will find out stuff which will probably end up hurting or ruining the relationship for one reason or another. Much better to be truthful and have someone accept you for who you are, rather than lying or trying to hide things. You do way more harm than good when you try to keep secrets, and they always end up finding out anyways.

Yes you can. Many are not at all interested in your past and only see how you act towards them
