Can somebody hack into my car while I’m driving and cut the brakes, speed up, etc?

This is serious. Programmers can distantly hack the Uconnect framework in vehicles just by realizing the vehicle's IP address. They can debilitate the brakes, turn on the AC, impact music, and cripple the transmission: In related news, there's a Senate bill to improve vehicle security guidelines.

Cut (deactivate) the brakes?
I don't think so.
Do you have electronic steering (steer by wire)?
What are you driving, by the way?

No. Only the nut behind the steering wheel can do that.

Depends on the vehicle - there was a video of someone hacking into what I believe was a Volvo and applying the brakes - but it was from a while ago (and may or may not have been fake).
Hopefully they've made the systems secure enough to prevent that.
