Was the Republicans originally founded upon the freedom of slavery in the northern union states?

A person can battle the institution of slavery and much of the liberal agenda using voting, political activism, the rosary of the Virgin Mary and fasting.  The Virgin Mary is the only other perfect person other than Jesus.  She is the greatest of creatures, yet still infinitely less than God, and is the mother of all of us!  She can help one to overcome slavery to sin!
