Why do Republicans continue to defend Trump, the worst president in u.s history?

Lying to try to make Trump, the worst President in the history of the US, look good isn't going to work. We all lived through the hell that Trump brought on our nation.

We all know that millions of jobs were lost under Trump. We all know that the USA ranks 10th in covid deaths per capita. We all know that Trump had no national plan on covid. We all saw Trump's superspreader events. We all know Trump had no healthcare plan. We all saw the division he caused.

The GOP lost the house, senate and presidency in just 4 years for a reason.

Trump supporters were bombarded with lies, and many radical organizations showed support, ie White Supremacist, anti-semites, haters of people of color. The underbelly of America. Trump dragged his feet, he was informed of the Pandemic in Dec. His rally on Jan 28th in So. Carolina, he said "The virus, the virus, Democrats are politicizing  it,  (actually Trump was politicizing the virus, one of his famous deflections) ,This the Democrats new hoax." Well, that event put us 2 months behind, and until the Pandemic started to get so severe, in March, he woke up. Had he acted in early Jan, the virus may not have had such a strong hold, making people sick & dying. Early prevention could have changed the out come. Trump was handed a growing economy (He didn't start from zero, like Obama did) he couldn't  fail, but when a crisis hit, he went the wrong direction, and that's where we are now. Trump is & was the most incompetent & unfit to ever be President, let alone his "love affair" with adversaries, very scary, never had any transparency. @Robert, you are sooo polarized believing the lies. I'm surprised you didn't say "Gas will be $13. a gallon," like other idiots have said. Pity for you, and the brainwashing you got.

The job losses? You are going to try to hang that on Trump? What part of COVID-19 do you not understand for the last year?!! Shutting down the greatest economy in the last 15 years (prior to Jan 2020), for which he was directly responsible was the ABSOLUTELY LAST THING HE WANTED TO DO!! Which by the way, how much state economies were shut down were up to governors, thus job losses, not Trump!

As for COVID-19, Trump implemented restrictions on travel from China in January 2020. Liberals literally called him "racist" for doing so. They were the ones who still hadn't got a grasp of the danger presented by the Chinese coronavirus yet, not Trump. More travel restrictions from other regions as well as other actions were implemented soon after. Trump has been ahead of the game from the beginning. There has been a bigger effort toward making a vaccine than anytime in American history, with government support. Two are now being deployed. More are on the way.

If you have ANY integrity, you will explain just WHAT Trump should have done differently over-all! That would have save all those lives!

People like you don't have the FIRST DAMN CLUE of presidential history, including about presidencies of Pierce, Buchanan, Andrew Johnson or Hoover who are the usual picks for worst president!

You also don't have a clue of the accomplishments of the Trump Administration which alone disqualifies him for the title! As already stated, Trump turned economy around, turning it into the strongest economy the country has seen in the last 15 years if not longer (prior to COVID-19) thanks to his use of Supply-Side Economics, including tax cuts and deregulation resulting in, among other things, the lowest Black and Hispanic unemployment on record (again pre-COVID). A number of those economic strengths are still there to fuel the post-COVID recovery if Biden doesn't screw it up with tax hikes and more regulation. All Trumps prior work can help as the US economy comes back on-line.

His policies allowed the US to become energy independent. This has been due to opening up more area for oil drilling, fracking and some coal production. Resulting in low energy and gas prices. Drawing more companies back to the US in the process because of that.

He has taken on tough problems other presidents kicked the can down the road on for decades. This includes illegal immigration. It includes trade issues with China on issues like American intellectual property, trade imbalances and too much dependency on them in areas like manufacturing, this now on full display due to COVID-19.

He pushed through a major new US, Canadian, Mexican trade partnership (USMCA), eliminating a number of problems with the old one (NAFTA).

He has taken a very visible stance with the pro-life movement as well being steadfastly behind 1st Amendment religious freedoms.

He took bold steps in the the fight on terrorism, finishing off ISIS, including Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. He was not afraid to take the fight to the sources of terrorism, like Iran and Qasem Soleimani all without starting new wars the Left was SURE he was going to do.

He's been key in brokering a historic peace deal between Israel and the UAE. All without needing to drag Palestinian issues into it. The Abraham Accords has since grown to include 5 Arab nations and Israel.

His economic policies have brought back a number of manufacturing jobs to American shores, Obama claimed would never return to American shores, remember that?

Having a Republican president brought the ability to place Originalism squarely in it's place as how to interpret law in the Courts. Trump did this this well, most notably the Supreme Court with 3 appointments to it.

The only US presidents worst than Trump according to historians either supported slavery or failed to do anything during reconstruction.  There been some that are very corrupt like Hoover and Nixon but has any tried to undermine democracy and the will of the ppl by inciting a mob to attack the Capitol?  So yes, I would say he's the worst.

We will see during impeachment if republicans are still supportive of Trump.  I can understand most of their base are still with Trump and why they still kowtow to him but a more important question is do they want this party to be the party of Trump because even worst than the man are his kids.  Have you hear Trump Jr. talk?  This guy is like 10x dumber and louder.  If that's the direction the party is heading, there is no hope.

Come back in a year when you are pumping eight dollar a gallon gas and see how much you still hate Trump.  You also know that the Chinese weaponized flu wasn't his fault right?  And you also may have read he was one of the one largely responsible for fast tracing the vaccine

Who cares whom they defend, they will not be writing any history. We will. We are erasing Trump's dirty legacy starting today. We have the Senate, the House and the Presidency. Republicans are either with us or against us.
